Listen As A Podcast

 March the 25th.

Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Annunciation. This was the moment when the Son of God, Jesus, became incarnate, like us in all things but sin.

The scriptures focus on two people: the King ahas in the Old Testament reading, and Mary in the gospel selection. Both have choices to make.

God offers ahas a sign of his future victory. He refuses to accept it. He fears the consequences.

Mary is offered the miraculous possibility of bearing as a child the long awaited Messiah. She does not let fear of the situation overwhelm her. She accepts. Her acceptance touched all of humanity. Our faith in relationship to Jesus today are the consequences of this.

Lord and Messiah, help me to emulate Mary's faith and humility.
