March the 27th.
The gospel account of the woman charged with adultery is a very familiar one. It is one of those moments when Jesus found himself locked in conflict with the scribes and Pharisees. He is not confrontational. He bends down to write rather than to get into a shouting match.
When he does address them, it is not confrontational, but a simple question. It is a question that left them all silent and unable to confront. He didn't approve her fault. He showed mercy and pardon. What a great lesson and challenge for us in the many confrontations we have in our life.
Let us ask the Holy Spirit for a similar grace when we have to face challenges like this.
