May the 14th.
The gospel selection today contains Jesus promise to send the Spirit to his disciples.
As he had been present to them through the incarnation, he promised to remain with them through the spirit. He would continue to guide and direct them in their lives.
The other readings from the New Testament show how this became effective after Pentecost. Peter and John invoked the spirit upon the early followers of the way in Samaria. Peter prayed that his followers would find hope in the truths that the spirit aided them in knowing.
As we make our way in the world, we need the spirit to discern how to deal with its ever-changing and challenging realities.
