May the 18th.
Like the resurrection, the ascension of Jesus is something we know very little about in detail.
We know that it happened. We know that it was the moment when the apostles and disciples received a commission from Jesus. They were sent forth as witnesses to his teachings and to his passion, death and resurrection.
Exactly where it happened and even when is debated. All that tradition teaches us reminds us that like these apostles, we have a mission to make the message known. Like them, we have been sent forth.
Our return to hope reminds us of this and prepares us to realize it in the year 2023. The world today wants to know God. You and I have a message and a mission to make him known.
