February the 25th.
Today is the fourth day on our return to hope. The prophet Isaiah walks with us today. As he spoke to the chosen people after the exile, he speaks with us. We heard the words, “Return to the Lord,” as we received ashes on Wednesday. We hear them today and we will hear these words more than once in the weeks ahead.
The prophet reminds us of how faithful God is to his promises. He gives us reason to act. His words animate the journey we have begun. Whatever we have been inspired to do has, as its purpose, that we learn and grow. Focus on this and be animated by it.
Lord, teach me this Lent. Your servant is listening.
