Listen As A Podcast

March the 2nd.

The readings on this eighth day of our return to hope again focus on prayer. Esther combines her words and prayer with penitential actions. She invites her whole family to join her. Jesus invites us to ask and seek in order to receive.

We hear in these words a challenge. We often become mechanical in our prayer. The challenge is to be open to varying our approach and way of entering into conversation with God. For many prayer becomes something to get in rather than conversation to be enjoyed and profited from.

As we live this Lent, we might take time to examine our prayer life. Where could we vary it or make it more dynamic?

Lord, make my prayer grow more fruitful this Lent.
