April the 12th.
In the scripture today, we meet Peter, John, and the cripple. The man asked the apostles for alms. They gave him what they had. It was far more than he ever expected.
In the gospel story, the travelers offered Jesus hospitality, the only thing they had during this great emptiness in their lives. He gave them the message of the resurrection, far more than they could ever have imagined.
In the scriptures surrounding the resurrection, we find many moments when God reveals this message amidst the ordinary moments of life.
As we make our journey this year, let us be open to the gifts God's wants to share with us. He is truly the God of surprises.
