Listen As A Podcast

April the 11th.

The gospel selection today shares with us the story of Mary Magdalene. She wept because of what she was undergoing. A few days ago, she stood on Calvary with Mary and John and witnessed the last moments of Jesus. Later, she was present for his burial. Now at the tomb, she faces the emptiness of not finding his body.

Why wouldn't she weep? She was so very human.

Jesus poses the question to her “Woman, why are you weeping?” She recognizes him and is filled with joy as well as astonishment. As we make our journey this,Jesus may well pose a similar question to us as we confront the many faces of death in our lives.

The reality of his resurrection and presence in our lives is something for us to grasp.

Risen. Lord, thank you for walking with me.
