April the 23rd.
The gospel selection today returns our attention to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Like them, we are joined by Christ, who wishes to share our journey.
As we continue our return to hope, he is with us. The scriptures during this season deepen our familiarity with the truth of the resurrection. They shore up our faith in this great reality.
Like our brothers on the road that day, we are burdened by what is going on in the world around us. It is hard to bear and difficult to understand. We, like them, need support. As they listened, they were enlightened.
May our journey this year and our efforts to listen bring us the same consolation and support.
