April the 22nd.
The gospel passage today again repeats an admonition that has appeared several times in our Easter scripture readings: Do not be afraid.
The early followers of Jesus encountered many situations which bring about fear in them. More than once, Jesus supported and calmed them with this admonition. They always made it through.
Our lives are no different. As we look about us, there are many things which might spark fear and apprehension. Jesus says the same thing to us when we experience fear to undertake something or to deal with unknown and threatening situations. He is with us and he walks with us always.
Risen Lord, I place my trust in you. Be my support.
