May the 3rd.
On this feast of the Apostles Philip and James, we hear Philip asking Jesus to show us the Father.
He had been with Jesus for some time. He heard his teaching and saw the miracles he worked. He heard Jesus proclaim the Father. Yet he struggled to grasp the reality that Jesus and the Father were the same.
When situations or circumstances challenge our ability to believe, Philip is a great example for us. Like him, we might want something further. His life and example, even to giving his life to spread the message, offer us motivation.
As we honor him today, ask his intercession for faithfulness on the journey of faith.
Saints Philip and James, intercede for me.
