May the 4th.
The message of Jesus in the gospel selection today is very fundamental. If you understand his teaching, you'll put it into practice.
The history of the Jewish people is an example. At times, they understood what God wanted of them. They complied with his will. At other times, they failed to understand. They wandered from his way.
The history of the church has followed a similar pattern. Look into your own life. You'll probably find that it too reveals the truth of this statement.
As we move on in our return to hope, it offers us a key to where we might make progress.
Risen Lord, enlightened my understanding of your word. Strengthen me to follow it more faithfully.
