Listen As A Podcast

May the 7th.

The gospel reading today contains a very enticing promise: Jesus told his disciples that he was going to prepare a place for them.

As we listen to these words, we have to remember that the same promise is extended to us. It is the promise of eternal happiness and fulfillment in the presence of God forever. That is the goal of each and every one of us. We believe in it.

The resurrection of Jesus, which we celebrate in these days, is the guarantee of it. It is the anchor of hope which guides our journey. As St. Paul proclaims, we have only a faint idea of what God has prepared for us. Our journey this year gives us another glimpse of it. It renews our appetite for it and strengthens us in our efforts to achieve it.

Risen Lord, thank you for what you prepare for me.
